Description
ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst School District 205 has reopened its community survey until April 24 because of a delay in mail delivery of postcards alerting residents about it.
Late last month, Elmhurst suffered widespread mail delivery problems, which the post office has acknowledged.
At Tuesday's school board meeting, Superintendent Keisha Campbell said 1,000 residents have already completed the survey. But she said many postcards didn't reach homes before the original survey deadline of April 1.
The postcards were bulk-mailed in the local ZIP code, meaning they should have been delivered quickly. The post office said it lacked enough employees locally.
The survey is designed to help the district create a strategic plan.
Campbell acknowledged the delay means a tighter schedule to develop the plan. But she said it was important to collect "robust" information from residents about what they would like to see in the district.
The survey is on the district's website.
