BERKELEY, CA — University of California President Michael Drake has new digs. The UC system paid $6.5 million late last year for its president's new home, Berkeleyside reports. The UC system used private funds to purchase the 2821 Claremont Blvd. property, the report said. The UC system previously owned the property for decades before selling in 1991, the report said. The property was designed by Julia Morgan, who was among the UC Berkeley's College of Civil Engineering's first female graduates and designed over 700 California buildings. Her best known work was San Simeon's Hearst Castle, built for William Randolph Hearst, America's first media mogul. Read more in Berkeleyside
