SOLANO COUNTY, CA — In response to surging inflation and monstrous gas prices, Krispy Kreme stores in California and across the nation will tie the price of a dozen doughnuts to the U.S. average price of a gallon of regular gasoline, the company announced. Doughnut prices will "deflate" every Wednesday for one month. A dozen original glazed doughnuts typically cost $7.99 at Krispy Kreme. The national average gas price tethered to doughnut prices was $4.11 on Wednesday; that will change each week. The price of fuel is much higher in California, where drivers paid an average of $5.73 per gallon for regular gas on Wednesday. "We know everyone could use a little doughnut deflation to sweeten the recent pain at the pump," Krispy Kreme said on its website. "So for the next four Wednesdays, we are helping you fill your tank with Original Glazed Dozens by pricing them at the cost of the national average of 1 gallon of regular gas." There are 35 Krispy Kreme locations in California. In Solano County, Krispy Kreme is located at 1620 E. Monte Vista Ave. in Vacaville. Another nearby Krispy Kreme store is at 1991 Diamond Blvd. in Concord. Prices will be updated weekly as the gas price average shifts, and customers can redeem the offer in Krispy Kreme shops, drive-thru lines and online orders. The offer is limited to two purchases per guest and is offered every Wednesday through May 4.
