Press release from Oakland Schools: April 13, 2022 Premiere celebration to be held at the Flagstar Strand Theatre Oakland Schools is proud to announce the Oakland County Outstanding Teachers of the Year for 2021-22. The prestigious recognition is designed to honor and reward teachers in Oakland County who have achieved the highest standards of excellence in the education profession. The 2022 winners are: Elementary Teacher of the Year, Roberta Lusk, Ferndale Upper Elementary School. Middle School Teacher of the Year, Mackenzie Curl, Holly Middle School. High School Teacher of the Year, Julie Martinez, Lamphere High School. "I am pleased to honor and recognize these three excellent educators as Oakland County's Outstanding Teachers of the Year, "Oakland Schools' Superintendent, Dr. Wanda Cook-Robinson said. "The work they consistently perform inspires and empowers their students, which is the noblest work one can do." There were 55 nomination forms submitted from school districts across Oakland County. The nominations were reviewed and screened by a committee comprised of representatives from Oakland Schools, educational referent groups, and community members. The three winners were recognized in their classrooms during a surprise visit and will be receiving a $2,000 cash prize from the Oakland Schools Education Foundation. Oakland Schools will celebrate all of the Oakland County nominees and present awards to the three 2022 recipients at a special invite-only event at the Flagstar Strand Theatre in Pontiac on Wednesday, May 4, 2022.
