New Principal Approved For St. James Elementary School

ST. JAMES, NY — Adam Javidi, who graduated from Smithtown schools 22 years ago, was approved as the incoming principal of St. James Elementary School, the Smithtown Central School District announced. Javidi is set to assume the new role on July 1. He succeeds Mary Grace Lynch, who was honored by the board of education on the same night he was approved. Other retirees were also honored at the meeting. Javidi has served as assistant principal at Locust Valley Intermediate School since August 2019. In that role, he has been the lead administrator responsible for overseeing the safety and daily operations of the third through fifth grades. Javidi previously served for five years as an assistant principal at P.S. 452 in Manhattan. He began his career as an elementary school teacher in the New York City's public schools. Javidi earned a bachelor of arts degree in sociology from Franklin and Marshall College and a master's of science in education degree from Hunter College. He formally was approved by the Board of Education on Tuesday. "I'm very excited about this opportunity to come back home to the district I grew up in," Javidi said via news release. "Everyone speaks so highly of Mary Grace Lynch. She's been there for 20years. I want to build on everything that she's developed and continue to make St. James anamazing place to learn and grow."
