TUSCALOOSA, AL — A Tuscaloosa man has been charged with first degree arson after setting fire to a residence on 35th Avenue Sunday. Click here to subscribe to our free Tuscaloosa Daily newsletter and breaking news alerts According to a deposition obtained by Patch, 30-year-old Timothy Marquis McMullion was a guest at a home in the 3000 block of 35th Avenue and sitting in the living room with several others when he reportedly declared "I'm going to kill everyone in the house." Witnesses then told police that McMullion lit a wool blanket that was covering the front door with a lighter, resulting in fire burning the molding above the door and damaging the sheetrock ceiling. A Tuscaloosa Police officer who responded to the call noted that the front door of the residence appeared to be on fire. The officer instructed those inside to exit the building for their own safety and later reported hearing McMullion spontaneously utter "I did it".
