Who We Want to Hire: We are seeking astute, flexible, warm, experienced, collaborative, thoughtful, curious, highly organized, detail-oriented people to be on our Dining Room Events Team. This position is ideal for experienced servers interested in performance, art, anthropology, history, botany, naturalism, sustainability, and/or experimentation. Past successful Event Team Members have been cooks, actors, students, astrologers, film crew, writers, and dancers. Dining Room Events Team Members will perform dual jobs: 1) deliver food and drinks to the correct guests in coordination with the Expeditor/Team Lead in a graceful and speedy fashion and 2) engage thoughtfully with guests and maintain an ambiance of ephemeral, magical art. Applicants should be prepared to: -Memorize descriptions of unique dishes and the stories that go with them and repeat them to guests in your authentic voice -Flexibly shift along with the demands of each performance, including format of service (i.e. cocktail party or 13-course prix-fixe table service) -Collaborate and communicate effectively with the entire team -Balance the needs for grace and speed -Interact with guests on relevant themes using specific language and frameworks -Pick up shifts on an ad hoc basis -Set up and tear down dining room for each service -Travel in Los Angeles area -Lift 20 lbs. and work on your feet for a full shift -Sometimes work long hours, with breaks Schedule and Pay: This is a part-time event-based position, not a regularly scheduled job. You should have another job that allows flexibility for you to pick up shifts, with ample notice. -Current scheduled dates include May 11th and 12th with more TBD -Attend some training the week of May 2nd, date and times TBD -Dates and times will differ from event to event, with at least 2 weeks notice -Most reliable performers will be first in line for best event shifts and to be hired for regular PHENAKITE service -You will be paid a $20 - $25 flat rate per hour, depending on experience If you wish to apply, we invite you to please submit a resume and a cover letter describing a bit about your values and interests, your work, and how you think you would be a good addition to our team as well as a copy of your resume.
