ROCKVILLE, MD — Montgomery County Council President Sidney Katz will be hosting an Oct. 2 business briefing on Zoom for residents affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The virtual meeting — set to take place Friday at 12:30 p.m — will feature Kelly Leonard, moderator for Montgomery Community Media's Small Business Network, and Katheryn Hoerster, owner and operator of Nothing Bundt Cakes in Silver Spring. The guests will discuss how local businesses are navigating the COVID-19 pandemic, the efforts of local businesses to support the community, and the county and state resources available for local businesses that need financial assistance. "Local businesses are nothing less than the backbone of our county's economy, and they will play a critical role in our long-term recovery," said Katz. "As a former small business owner, I recognize that now is the time for the county government and for residents to rally around and support our local businesses." Residents can submit their questions for Katz and other participants by e-mailing [email protected]. They'll also have the chance to submit questions in the Zoom chat during the Q&A portion of the briefing. Those who want to join the Zoom call must register in advance by emailing [email protected] to participate. Log-in information will be emailed to attendees once they register.
