Description
Hi i removed an old ceiling fan from box and forgot to reference the wiring. This fan was powered by a switch. The box has 3 different sets of 120v romex (ground/hot/neutral). My 2 brain cells have come up with:
- 3 wires for the switch
- 3 wires from the power supply/breaker
- 3 wires to load various outlets in the unit
I tried installing a new, low profile receiver/remote Ceiling fan to give it power from the switch. But when i turned on the fan breaker again, not only did the fan not power. I also do not have power in half of the unit’s outlets and lights (upstairs 1 bedroom sublet)
I checked all of the home’s breakers and subpanel breakers with a multimeter and all checked good. Also reset all GFCIs of the house. Still getting nothing hot. If I had a live wire I wouldve kept working the different colors with wire nuts until i differentiated the outlets and the switch, so to power the fan. But i cant even get past that part so I wont mess with this stuff anymore.
I only have time to be at the property from 7-9am otherwise it would have to be after 5:30pm
