GREENWICH, CT — A New York man accused of breaking into a Greenwich home last year was arrested Tuesday, according to police.
In a statement, police said Charles Figueroa, 48, of the Bronx, N.Y., was extradited from the Manhattan Detention Complex in New York by Greenwich officers on Tuesday. (To sign up for Greenwich breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
According to police, the department held two active warrants for Figueroa as a result of an incident that took place in town in May 2019.
Lt. Mark Zuccerella said he is accused of breaking into a home in Greenwich twice and assaulting a resident. The incident occurred on Stonehedge Drive, according to police.
Figueroa was taken into custody by the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force on Aug. 27 after he was released from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where he had been incarcerated for unrelated charges.
He was later transported to police headquarters in Greenwich and charged with two counts of home invasion and two counts of third-degree assault.
