GREENWICH, CT — Firefighters responded quickly after a kitchen fire broke out at a Greenwich residence Monday evening, according to fire officials. In an email to Patch, Deputy Chief Shawn Morris said the department received a call around 9 p.m. from a tenet at 237 Weaver Street reporting a kitchen fire spreading through one of the units there. Four of the department's engines and a truck responded to the area along with volunteers from multiple stations throughout town, Morris said. Firefighters then evacuated other residents from the building. Crews were ultimately able to locate the fire on the first floor of a unit and extinguish it, Morris said. Police, EMS and Red Cross crews also lent assistance. "No civilian or first responder injuries were reported," Morris said in an email. "The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Greenwich Fire Marshal's Office."
