What's standing in the way of 100% renewable energy?

Considering all the demands for eliminating fossil fuels around the world by every government on our planet what's standing in the way of 100% renewable energy is the technology hasn't been invented yet. Cries we have to stop using oil, gas and coal ignore there is no viable substitute and no one knows when there will be. The Russian war on Ukraine has shown even a slight disruption of supplies has sent the world into panic to control energy prices and availability. If anyone wants to argue this then please lead the way and explain how I am wrong. It's not what anyone thinks we should do it's all about what we can do. The US and countries around the world are doing everything they can to develop renewable energy that will power the world, effort isn't the problem what the issue is that many won't admit the scale of the project being so enormous it won't be done anytime soon, at best it's decades away if we're lucky. Big oil has nothing to do with it, they haven't the power to stop technological advances, TESLA has proven that and now all the major car manufactures are in it to win it. If you could snap your fingers and make every car and truck in the world electric powered there wouldn't be enough electricity generated to power them all and as far as the eye can see only fossil fuels can be the reliable energy source to create electricity. Not wind, not solar, not hydro electric. Let's have a serious discussion about this issue, leave your insults and ad hominem attacks aside for a change. Is there anyone here that can do this, anyone willing to have a genuine discuss on renewable energy prospects?
