ROCKVILLE, MD — Movie legend Sophia Loren will be appearing in Rockville this week for an intimate onstage discussion and audience Q&A. Montgomery College's Robert E. Parilla Performing Arts Center in Rockville is hosting the two-day event, called "An Evening with Sophia Loren," on Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet one of the last surviving stars from Hollywood's Golden Age and watch film clips from her impressive career. Born Sofia Scicolone in Rome in 1934, Loren grew up poor in Naples. She first made her way into the spotlight at 14, when she was one of twelve contestants crowned "Princesses of the Sea" in a beauty contest. After meeting producer and future husband Carlo Ponti, Loren left Italy and started a successful career in Hollywood. She starred in classics such as The Black Orchid (1958) with Anthony Quinn, Arabesque (1966) with Gregory Peck, and Houseboat (1958) with Cary Grant. Loren, now 85, is considered one of the greatest Hollywood actresses to grace the silver screen. She's currently on her second U.S. tour in "An Evening with Sophia Loren." In Rockville, tickets are $150 for Rows A – K; $125 for Rows L – O; and $100 for Rows P – R. For $550, fans will get seats in the first ten rows, a photo by a professional photographer with Loren, a VIP badge, and a pass to all her films. Tickets are limited.
