No, this isn't the slew of BS ads this area is being flooded with. I am a small St. Louis area painting contractor and I have two needs at the moment. Before you read further NEITHER IS FULL TIME EMPLOYMENT. The first need is a drywall professional and to be more exact someone who generally only does drywall work and is capable of mud, tape and hang work and bringing a wall to a ready to paint condition. I am looking for someone who is essentially their own drywall company - must be licensed and insured - and be able to provide quite a bit of proof of the quality of work you do. This is not something I term as 'employment' as customers who approach me for this type of work will be referred to you directly and from that point they are your customer to bid, price and complete the work. My company does not do any of this type of work anymore but we do get quite a bit of people who ask for it. I'm happy to forward work of this nature to someone qualified in exchange for them sending painting work our way which is why the best person for this is someone who does a ton of drywall work but hates to paint. The second is an 'extra help' guy. Someone who has done some painting work in the past and is good with heights indoors as high as 12' (standing height) as we do paint two story foyers, stairwells and similar height areas. We do use scaffold so no playing around on extension ladders. At least at this point I do not have enough steady work to promise someone a 'full time' job so idea candidate is someone who has some availability during the weekday timeframe (M-F) between 10a and 3p. Idea person is someone retired, a self employed painter who could use a bit of extra income or someone who works nights/weekends that has their days free. Pay is in cash generally at the end of the week or the job. For most part I have worked as a one man show with a helper but as things continue to grow I want to start with someone who can be available for some part time work when the need arise and work from there so I am looking to have a few different people I can call on at those times. Interested in the drywall work? Need to know what your current availability is (retired, work part time, full time, self employed etc) and what painting experience you have and with what company. Also if you have a few pics of recent paint work send em on over. No, you do not need to be super experienced but the more the better. You MUST be good with heights as that is generally the greatest need when help is required on our jobs. You need to have a fairly clean criminal background (seven years) as well since the work involves being in customers personal homes. I won't have time to reply to everyone and will let this ad run at least a week before replying to give time to see what comes in so be patient.
