ROCKVILLE, MD — A man who police believe was behind a string of bank robberies in Montgomery County this fall has been arrested, according to authorities. Noel Omar Lorenzo, 41, of Rockville, faces three counts of armed robbery, first-degree assault, and theft valued at $1,500 to under $25,000, court records reveal. In total, Lorenzo is accused of robbing three banks in Montgomery County and at least one other in Fairfax County, Virginia. His charges are pending in the Commonwealth. A summary of the three Montgomery County bank robberies are as follows, per police: Sept. 25, around 9:40 a.m. — Capital One Bank, 10707 Connecticut Ave., Kensington Lorenzo approached the teller, passed a note announcing the robbery, and lifted his shirt to reveal a handgun in his waistbandHe obtained money and fledOct. 2, around 10:40 a.m. — Wells Fargo Bank, 13920 Georgia Ave., Aspen Hill Lorenzo approached a teller, passed a note announcing the robbery, and pointed to his waistbandHe obtained money and fledOct. 15, around 10:40 a.m. — Capital One Bank, 101 Halpine Rd., Rockville Lorenzo approached a teller, passed a note, and pulled a handgun from his bookbagHe obtained money and fled"During the investigation of the three bank robberies committed in Montgomery County, MCPD detectives concluded that the involved suspect appeared to be the same person," authorities said in a statement. "This determination was based on witness descriptions of the suspect, a review of the banks' video surveillance, and the similarities in the suspect's modus operandi (MO)." On Oct. 28, Montgomery County police were contacted by Fairfax County police, who informed them that Lorenzo may have robbed a bank in Virginia the day before. Earlier this month, Lorenzo was arrested at his Rockville home and charged with the three armed robberies in Montgomery County, police said. He is being held without bond.
