So, our 3 1/2 year old Hampsty had to be put down last Saturday. After school we went clean cage & he'd been chewing- eating himself, eyes closed wasn't good- rushed him to local vet- $120.00 later, was diagnosed with Cancer which is common with hampsters we've been told- she gave my daughter a option we could get antibiotics might help his belly chest wounds but wouldn't help pain or get rid cancer, or let her give him medicine to just go sleep. My 7 year old knows about cancer my lady friend- Janet Anderson, whom I miss every day- she didn't win her fight with breast cancer & Brooklynn adored her. She made choice, brought him home 2 bury. We have everything 4 a hampster & it would thrill her. I can't afford go pet shop for another $20.00- $30.00 @ Petco..
