Description

Sweet, devoted, cattle dog needs room to roam! His name is Joe. He is on his way to a healthier life! A year ago he was very over weight and not very nice, his owner did not care for him as he deserved to have been. I have worked with him to lose weight and he has a waist now! His attitude has changed a great deal and has become protective without being out of control. He is a big guy, still, but I feel he is very manageable now! Joe is 6 years old and loves to go on runs and walks and play with his toys. I have introduced him to other dogs, on a leash, and he is curious but not overbearing. When we run, he doesn't pull towards another dog and keeps his attention right along side me! He mainly stays outside now but when he is inside he doesn't steal food from the counter, even though he can easily reach it! That's not to say I would leave food and not keep an eye on it!! 😉 He is a heeler and still naturally nips at visitors heels, which means you have to be vigilant in telling your friends not to turn your back on him. He has come a long way and still needs to shed some pounds but he is very loving. He has never been around cats or have had other animals in his life. He does, however, not let opossums enter the yard! I did not intend to keep him for this long, just long enough to get him healthy and he has progressed quite well! I also had to move and Joe's space was downsized quite substantially. He's doing fine with the transition so I know he'll do well when he does move. He is house broken and had a dog door but there is not one here, so I leave the slider door open about 2 inches and he opens it himself, he can't close it though!!🤣 Mostly, like I said, he's fine with staying outside. Plus, he sheds a lot. I don't have little kids but he is good when they come around, same rules apply as strangers. I'm sure he would adapt if they were around all the time. Anything else, just ask!
