Minimum Qualifications and Experience: • Experience working in a labor intensive position preferably with skilled trades (hazardous materials) in the transportation arena. • 40 HOUR HAZWOPER current certification & if expired, include a required 8-hour refresher certification • Valid Driver’s License in good standing. Hazmat endorsement and CDL is a requirement. • Current TWIC BADGE Required • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (understanding what a hazardous waste manifest form is) • Must be willing to travel on short notice (outer island travel during the M-F week for 1-3 days/nights at a time or less) • Must be able to use hand tools, power tools and wear personal protective equipment. • Must be clean shaven and fit to wear a respirator on a daily basis • Must be able to enter military bases and secured facilities • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. +, stoop, crawl, bend, push, pull and walk on uneven terrain or in slippery conditions. • Forklift trained and certified. • Able to operate various lifts is a “plus” (reach, man, Gradall, scissors, etc). • Follow directions; read/speak and understand English; communicate with customers professionally; read and understand common danger placards / labels and hazardous warning literature including site safety plans. • Knowledge of HAZMAT and DOT regulations • Must be able to supervise a small crew on job sites and in the warehouse once introductory & training period is complete. Responsibilities • Drive flatbed trucks of all sizes • Packs, loads containers onto trucks and facilitates manifest paperwork for consolidated various chemicals including hazardous materials and waste in order to transport. • Safely transports hazardous materials and chemicals from point A to B. • Assists, loads and leads with shipping hazardous waste including loading 20’-40’ containers (drums, pallets, totes). • Attends and maintains all required training necessary to perform the duties of the position. • Performs safe work practices involving chemicals, sampling, non-hazardous and hazardous waste. • Labels and organizes containers in compliance with all regulations. • Inspects hazardous waste storage areas when needed and meticulous with regulatory documentation.
