Description
Professional (I paid my rent and groceries with my earnings) with years of experience in cover bands and show bands. Starting with Memphis R&B and Motown in my teens.
In my twenties from 1970 to 1980s, I played with two show bands, house bands doing cover songs and also on the the road (EW&F, Jefferson Airplane, Three Dog Night, Carole King, KC & the Sunshine Band, Doobie Bros, The Band, CCR, Grand Funk RR, Disco,...you name it.) I am versatile, arranged for horns, played string parts on an ARP String Ensemble (electric strings). 1981: moved to NYC and played piano bars for a couple years doing standards, Broadway.
I worked in retail and direct mail marketing/desktop publishing and education (high school art) from 1984 to 2012.
I am retired and spend my days teaching piano and music theory and woodshedding on New Orleans r&b, jazz fake book, 12-bar blues, Pig Robbins country style.
I can sing simple baritone harmony and leads on:
Roadhouse Blues
Tonight the Bottle Let Me Down
Desperado
Hank Williams songs
Since I Fell For You... a few examples.
I am a published songwriter and continue to write and perform my original songs.
My gear:
Roland VR-730, JBL eon615, Yamaha DGX-640
I have a professional sensibility, into pleasing the crowd with music they enjoy listening and dancing to and singing along with. I can get along with just about anybody and believe kindness and compassion are two necessary qualities that get me through every day.
I am seeking a working ($) band.
I can commit to rehearsals once a week and will come prepared with my parts ready to work on arrangements. I have weekdays free and friday, saturday evenings for playing out. Sunday's free, too.
