EVENT DETAILS
What: Compost Demonstration and Workday
When: Saturday May 7th, 2022, 8am-10am
Where: Blackbird Park Community Garden (3765 Hovnanian Drive), near the dog park on the west-side of the park.
Description: Bill Maynard from City's Youth Parks and Community Enrichment (YPCE) department will lead a compost demonstration and work day open to all garden members and Westshore neighborhood residents. As a group we will turn the compost and learn about the details of composting, and what to avoid putting in your home compost. Bill and Ray will bring a truck bed full of well-mixed healthy soil, so anyone interested should come early and bring an empty 5-gallon bucket to fill and take home. With the upcoming changes to Citywide composting rules, come learn how to effectively manage at-home composting and learn about healthy soil composition!
What to Bring: Gardening gloves, empty 5-gal bucket (optional), closed-toed shoes, hat, sunscreen, and drinking water.
Registration info: Registration is free and would be appreciated so we know how many people to expect.
Thank you,
Westshore Landscaping Committee
