BRICK, NJ — A Toms River motorcyclist was seriously injured Monday night in a crash on Brick Boulevard when a vehicle turned into his path, Brick police said.
Christopher Cincis, 36, of Toms River, was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune with injuries to his extremities following the crash that happened just after 7 p.m. at Bay Harbor Plaza shopping center, Brick Patrolman David Thergesen said.
Kathleen Kornas, 69, of Brick, was turning left from the southbound lanes of Brick Boulevard into the parking lot at Bay Harbor Plaza and pulled into the path of Cincis, who was driving a 2020 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R north on Brick Boulevard, Thergesen said. Cincis had the right-of-way; Kornas was not injured, he said.
Thergesen said the Traffic Safety Unit is investigating to determine if speed was a factor.
Brick Police EMS and paramedics from Hackensack Meridian Hospital also responded. The road was closed and traffic was detoured for several hours during the investigation.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information related to it is asked to contact Thergesen at 732-451-2037.
