A celebration of Ukrainian culture through a night of pysanky egg decorating. Proceeds benefit the International Rescue Committee.
Join a hands-on demonstration and class in the ancient art of pysanky egg decorating. Participants learn about this tradition and its cultural roots, as well as how to design and decorate their own eggs. Participants will leave the evening with their own tools so that they can continue practicing this art form at home. All supplies is included in the purchase of a ticket.
Paul Wirhun is a master of this ancient folk art, having learned from his mother whilst growing up in a family of Ukrainian descent. His art practice for the past 30 years has been based on this medium of using egg shells, whether whole, or as material for creating 2D and 3D works. Wirhun's work has been exhibited in solo and group shows throughout the country. He also has been teaching pysanky in numerous settings throughout his art career.
Proceeds will be sent to the International Rescue Committee, which is on the ground supporting the over 4 million refugees who have been forced to flee Ukraine with vital supplies.
