TOMS RIVER, NJ — A Toms River woman has been charged with aggravated manslaughter in connection with the stabbing death of her former boyfriend early Saturday morning, authorities said.
Samantha Massimino, 33, is being held at the Ocean County Jail, Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and Toms River Township Police Chief Mitch Little said in a joint announcement.
Reinaldo Feliciano Jr., 35, of Toms River died at Community Medical Center about 4:45 a.m. from injuries he suffered when he was stabbed, authorities said.
A 911 call about 4 a.m. reported the stabbing at a home on Anthony Avenue, and police found Feliciano with a stab wound to the leg. The investigation found Massimino and Feliciano, who had previously dated, got into a fight. During the fight, Massimino retrieved a knife and ultimately stabbed Feliciano in the leg, authorities said.
Massimino has been charged with aggravated manslaughter and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
"I commend all the law enforcement officers involved in this tragic case for their dedicated professionalism, and for swiftly identifying Ms. Massimino as the individual responsible for Mr. Feliciano's death and bringing her into custody," Billhimer said.
The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Major Crime Unit, Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Victim Witness Advocacy Unit, Toms River police and detectives, and Ocean County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit handled the investigation.
