Toms River Police Mourn Passing Of K-9 Boris

TOMS RIVER, NJ — The Toms River Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its former K-9 officers, after K-9 Boris died Wednesday, officials said. K-9 Boris died at age 15, the department said. He had worked for the department from February 2008 until he was retired in 2016, the department said in a post on Facebook. K-9 Boris attended training at the Toms River Police Department K-9 Academy and entered service with his handler, then-Officer Steve Eubanks. (Eubanks has since been promoted to sergeant.) During his career, K-9 Boris was responsible for the seizure and removal of countless amounts of illegal narcotics. He is also credited with the successful apprehension of numerous criminal suspects. He was a valuable member of the department, police said in a Facebook post. "In retirement Boris loved hanging out with my family and laughing at me when I went to work!" Eubanks said. "He was truly loved back," police said in the post. "Our sincere condolences are with Boris's handler Eubanks and his family."
