TAITA-SV In-Person Seminar is back! We are honored to have Sean and Paul to share how they disrupt the beverage industry. Speak Title: From Engineers to Baristas: How Sean and Paul Leverage Silicon Valley Technology and the Taiwan Supply Chain to Disrupt the Beverage Industry Abstract: Sean and Paul will be sharing their experience with founding high-tech startups both from a Taiwan immigrant and Taiwanese-American perspective, and how they leverage an engineering background and their Taiwan roots & connections to best position the company for success. The speak will be given in English. Light Supper and Drinks will be provided on site. Food will be provided at 6:30pm while the speak starts at 7pm. About Sean: Sean Hsu is a Taiwanese-born American business magnate, mechanical engineer, patent holder, and serial inventor. From an early age, Sean developed a passion for robotics and electronics, founding multiple start-ups throughout his early schooling career. Sean would go on to earn a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from 國立交通大學 (National Chiao Tung University), earning a 2011 Red Dot Product Design award. He would go on to earn a Masters of Engineering and Manufacturing from University of Michigan, where he filed four patents related to impact detection and heat exchange technology, earning another Red Dot Product Design Award in 2014. Prior to founding Botrista Technologies, Sean was a manufacturing engineer at Tesla, where he led a team of Tesla’s finest engineers to create the first automated production line in the Gigafactory. Following Tesla, Sean was the director of engineering at Zume, where he led projects focused on optimizing consumer solution architecture. As CEO of Botrista, Sean leads his company with a vision of driving growth and innovation, driving the forefront of automation to enable brands to increase convenience and reduce operational overhead. He currently lives in San Mateo with his wife, Momo and their dog Judy. About Paul: Paul Chen is a seasoned entrepreneur with deep experience in software and hardware engineering, product management and business development in various high-tech industries. Prior to co-founding Botrista Technology, Paul led the commercial drone business for Yuneec, the world's second largest drone manufacturer. In this role, he built and launched new applications in the public safety, inspection, and construction sectors and worked with strategic partners to create joint solutions with the SDK program. Prior to that, he worked at Maxim Integrated, managing the Display Systems product line, and also as an ASIC Engineer at Fortinet. As Chief Product Officer, Paul oversees product strategy and management, software engineering, and data analytics. He was formerly the COO, helping the company build up its global supply chain, logistics centers, and field service teams. Paul received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Brown University, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University, and a Master of Business Administration from MIT Sloan. Chen resides in the San Francisco Bay area with his 4 kids.
