Dessert fundraiser to open Shekinah Glory Academy Sierra Leone in Sussex, SL September 2022! Kids & teachers are ready & need your help! God has made Shekinah Glory Academy Sierra Leone a dream, a hope, and a clear vision!! For more than 15 years, several of us have been praying and waiting on the Lord Jesus to open the door to make it become a reality! And now in Fall of 2022 this dream will become a reality!! As a branch of Kingdom Life & Prayer Ministries International (KLPMI), this school will be the first of it's kind in the area and with having "boots on the ground" with the ministry being established and thriving for more than 8 years in Sussex. Soon-to-be students, parents, teachers and administrators are ready to OPEN SCHOOL! But they NEED YOUR HELP! Sussex, is a small fisherman's village 35 minutes south of Freetown, the country's capitol. With very limited resources, many families struggle daily to put food on the table. Most cannot afford to send their children to school. Daily children as young as 4-6 years old are seen trying to fish in the strong Atlantic Ocean to help meet their family's needs rather than attend school, and so continues the cycle of poverty from one generation to the next in this community. Come SEE and HEAR how you can help begin writing a new book altogether for not only these children but the entire community. We plan to start with Nursery School (ie. Preschool) and keep it growing until it includes Primary (Elementary), Jr. Secondary (Middle School), Sr. Secondary (High School), and even an Adult Vocational & Literacy School. So far 2 pilot Vacation Bible Schools have shown the incredible need and eagerness of both families and students very ready for education to be theirs!!! We are currently holding the 2nd VBS and in the first day 168 students attended, turning the church building into a mega school for this small community!!!! Families outside the area are even coming to bring their children, and are asking when they can start registering their students for the fall. Many are commenting they have never experienced the kind of love, care, education and concern for their children. THIS IS TRULY GROUND BREAKING!!!! And your US Dollar investment goes very far in Sierra Leone (Leones). Our initial budget/goal of $120,000 will run this school for its first two (2) years! Paying teachers fair and competitive salaries resulting in these students getting the very best education possible. Sierra Leone is actually highly regarded in West Africa for a strong educational system, yet the problem remains it is only accessible for those who can afford the often unreachable expenses. Without a tax system like America, there is no free "public school" in Sierra Leone. This is why God has so strongly laid it on the hearts of 3 Sierra Leonean pastors more than 15 years ago to open a school: Moses Kargbo (Founder and General Overseer of KLPMI, currently residing with his wife, Shana, in Cedar Rapids, IA), his brother Henry Kargbo (Sr. Pastor of one of KLPMI churches in Sierra Leone, who is also a builder/contractor, and has served on multiple school boards), and Moses' best friend Patrick Bahun (Sr. Pastor to the other KLPMI church in Sierra Leone, who has also been a school administrator his entire career). The vision God gave them was to open up a school, run it in honorable ways, offering dignity and respect for every child, and find ways to make school accessible to ALL who are eager to receive a great education!! Every Sierra Leonean knows education is truly wealth and the greatest tool to break the cycle of poverty. Be a part of breaking the poverty chain for this generation and for generations to come!
