FCBD QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS QUICK GUIDE: 1. What is "Free Comic Book Day?" As the name implies, Free Comic Book Day is a single day when participating comic book specialty shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely free to anyone who comes into their shops. 2. When is Free Comic Book Day? Free Comic Book Day is held the first Saturday in May each year. 3. Are they really free? Yep! This year you may choose up to 10 awesome comic books from our FCBD books! 4. Is this the first Free Comic Book Day? No! The first Free Comic Book Day event was held in 2002. In the past, thousands of shops around the world have given away millions of free comic books to interested readers. We're proud of the continuing success of FCBD and look forward to growing the event each year! 5. Will there be a sale? YES there will be a sale on FCBD! 20% OFF EVERYTHING IN THE STORE! ALL DAY LONG! *NOTE: EXCLUDES ITEMS ALREADY ON SALE!* 6. Do you have enough parking? YES! Bring your friends! 7.What time does FCBD start and end? The store will be open 10am-6pm! 8. Will there be any artists? Of course, local artists will be here to give their time and draw for all of you! We can't say enough about these great folks giving their time each and every year. Artists will be here to sketch the day away, headlined by: Jim Mehsling! Jim’s work on Star Wars fan films have been featured on StarWars.com, and he currently works on sketch trading cards for Topps/Lucasfilm and the comic book Bobcat: A saga from the Old West…and Beyond, along with being the creator of Bandit. Fredd Gorham! The creator and grand pubah of the Krypton Comics Artist Jam, Fredd isn’t coming alone! Here’s a list of our Artist Jammers that will be drawing for you on Free Comic Book Day! Stazia Waymire! James Hodge! Jesse Kiefer and Axton Kohler, the men behind Zombie Oaks Comics will return this year as well! Check them out here: 9. Do the artists charge for sketches? For FCBD, most of these fine artists draw sketches for FREE! Feel free to commission a paid drawing or buy some of their comics though! These folks are going to draw their arms off for you, so be sure to stop by and say hi when you’re at the shop! And what would Free Comic Book Day be without the World Famous Krypton Comics COSTUME CONTEST? 1st Place - $100 gift certificate to Krypton! 2nd Place - $75 gift certificate to Krypton! 3rd Place - $50 gift certificate to Krypton! I just want FREE COMICS! Will there be a line? There will be two entrances to Krypton on Saturday. The 501st Star Wars stormtroopers will be here, and other characters will be posing for photo ops! We are having a costume contest this year so expect lots of costumes! If you or someone you love has a costume that they would like to wear at FCBD let 'em know! They might even win a prize!
