Continue building on the skills you learned in our Introduction to Blacksmithing Class in this five-week class. The continuing techniques class is for students who have taken 'Introduction to Blacksmithing' or who have prior experience (such as Blacksmithing Introductory Techniques). In class, you will learn advanced methods for forming steel. The class will focus on two aspects, decorative techniques (basic animal heads, ornamental twists and scrolls, etc.), and the forging and heat-treating of simple tools like chisels, fullers, and punches. This continuing techniques class is offered either as five 3-hour sessions over five weeks. There is also a 2-day intensive available with two 7.5-hour sessions, see class listings for available dates. Please wear work boots or shoes made from leather or canvas (no nylon, it melts!). Wear natural fiber clothing (cotton is best). Safety glasses are required and will be provided, but if you have a pair you're comfortable in, consider bringing your own. Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
