MASSACHUSETTS — Patriots' Day is Monday, April 18, in Massachusetts and Maine. It's not a federal holiday, though, It's also not a holiday in Rhode Island. For most people across the state, it's a day off from work or school. Patriots' Day marks the Battles of Lexington and Concord and the start of the Revolutionary War. It's also Marathon Monday in Boston.

Monday marks the beginning of school vacation week.Post office: OpenMBTA: All subway lines will be operating on a regular weekday schedule with added service before and after the Marathon. On Marathon Monday, various bus routes on both the North and South sides will be detoured. Due to congestion, bikes are not allowed on any MBTA vehicles on Patriots' Day.
