NEWTOWN, CT — Absentee ballots are available for the 2022-23 Newtown budget referendum, which this year is scheduled for April 26, according to officials. To receive an absentee ballot, a registered Newtown voter (or a "U.S. citizen assessed for at least $1,000 for Real Estate or Motor Vehicles on the 2021 Grand List" in Newtown) must meet one of the following criteria: My active service in the Armed Forces of the United StatesMy absence from the town SicknessMy religious tenets which forbid secular activity on the day of the election, primary or referendumMy duties as a primary, election or referendum official at a polling place other than my own during all of the hours of votingPhysical disabilityFilled out absentee ballots must be received by the town by 8 p.m. on the 26th.
