PERRY HALL, MD — A dog who was hit by a car is missing in Perry Hall, and her owners are asking for help finding her.
Cookie, 5, was hit by a vehicle on Rose Haven Road and ran off on April 8, according to her owner, Traci Myers Nies.
That was a Friday, and by Tuesday, Nies said she and her family have still not found the dog despite searches and help from animal trackers.
"Cookie is the sweetest dog. She is a big socialite in my neighborhood and a favorite," said Nies, who shared that her dog actually smiles. "She looks for her dog friends and dogs that don't want to be her friend but she just thinks they need to get to know her more....She thinks every person is here to personally see her. We adore her, love her immensely, and miss her so much."
Nies said that her 18-year-old son and her husband have been searching the woods and fields daily near their home. They are near Bucks School House Road by the Pine Valley Swim Club.
"No one has even had a sighting of her since the accident and we have had a dog tracker out 2 times," Nies said. "Cameras have been placed and feeding stations with no luck."
The family is asking those who are in the area to check their security cameras from April 8 in case they may have seen her, or if they know someone who suddenly has a dog that looks like Cookie.
Cookie is black and about 55 pounds. She is friendly, Nies said, but since she is likely in survival mode, she may run away if chased. "Get very low and in a calm voice try to coax her to you," Nies advised. "Offer food even, maybe."
Have you seen Cookie? Call Tracie at 410-746-7216. She said it is OK to put the dog on a leash.
