Waterbury - Bob Tansley set out to put together a group of senior citizens to perform "Senior Citizen Annie."
Unfortunately, MTI denied approval to produce a production of "Annie." Because there is a new National Tour at a time to be determined, the company did not approve their request.
Tansley emailed all of the interested seniors that as far as the production team was concerned, "the show must go on."
"We feel that the show we do is not as important as doing a show. We will switch the show to 'Oliver' which is not restricted."
The director heard back from some seniors who still wanted to be involved despite the show change. Tansley needs at least 40 senior citizens in order to be able to do "Oliver."
Auditions were held last Saturday and the group has only 26 seniors interested in being a part of "Oliver," which is not enough to proceed. "I have told the seniors I need 10 more to do the show," "Mr. T" told me. "I'll give it one more chance."
If anyone 60+ would like to join the cast, please come to Crosby High School on Saturday. The production team will be there from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. "Here's hoping," the director told me. "If not, we try again next year."
