Description

(Pic for attention, no birds for adoption.) I'm a bird nerd and parrot fosterer, and I'm looking for a permanent addition to my family. If you have a parrot you've decided you can't care for, please feel free to respond to this post. I'm taking my time with this and I only plan on bringing in one parrot (or a pair of birds who share a large cage, I don't mind!) so please don't worry if it takes me a few days to get back to you. I have been studying and caring for a variety of species over the last 5 years, and I'd like to make one permanent. I am comfortable with any species except African Greys and cockatoos. I have a particular love for almost all Pionus, Poicephalus, and Macaw species (Yes, I know the personality and care of these genera are very different. All three fit well with my lifestyle despite being different experiences, and I know I'm looking for a rescue and don't have the ability to be too picky.) I'm experienced in working with behavior issues like lunging, plucking, bird aggression, and hatred of men/women/children/whatever. The only issue I am not comfortable working through is severe separation anxiety/all-day screaming. I do not currently have any other birds and do not plan on adding more. I will continue to foster every now and then but they will be kept separately from my permanent bird. I must visit your bird before making a final decision. I will pay a fair rehoming fee, but I will not pay pet store prices and risk supporting a bird flipper. I can meet and pick up anywhere in Colorado for the right bird. I will not buy any babies, and age or feather quality don't matter to me. My home will be your bird's last- I am a relatively experienced parrot person who isn't looking for a cool pet, or even one that talks. I want to give a bird in need a good final home.
