JOLIET, IL — A 31-year-old Joliet woman is now in the Kendall County Jail because she threw her mother-in-law off a porch on Monday night, Joliet police announced. Kristin Marie Martinez was booked into custody in Yorkville on charges of aggravated domestic battery to a senior citizen, aggravated battery to a senior citizen and aggravated battery. Joliet squad cars were sent to the 7600 block of Violet Lane for a domestic disturbance around 7:35 p.m. Martinez's mother-in-law was the victim, police announced. "Martinez arrived at the victim's residence to pick up her children," police spokesman Dwayne English indicated. "An argument ensued after the victim would not allow Martinez into the residence due to Martinez's intoxicated state." As the two argued, Martinez pushed the 70-year-old woman off the porch, police reports show. "The victim fell off of the porch to the ground and suffered a serious injury to her wrist," English noted. Officers took Martinez away in handcuffs at the scene of the crime while her mother-in-law was taken to Ascension St Joseph Medical Center for her injuries, Joliet police said. Ascension is the new name for St. Joe's hospital in Joliet. Martinez lives in the 8000 block of Harrier Avenue. She remained in the Yorkville detention center on Tuesday, unable to post 10 percent of her $7,500 bail.
