Edina High To Host 'One Town, One Family' Event Thursday

EDINA, MN — Edina officials are inviting residents to the city's first "One Town, One Family" community conversation Thursday night at Edina High School, where participants will talk about how to create an inclusive Edina. City, school and business leaders in Edina teamed up to promote the event in a video released Monday. "Imagine a community where every child comes to school feeling included, accepted and with a sense of belonging and psychological safety," Edina Public Schools Superintendent Stacie Stanley says in the video. Edina Eliminates 4 Precincts After 2022 Redistricting Process Imagine a community "where every family feels welcome, free to enjoy the opportunities our Edina community has to offer, a town where everyone feels like family, one Edina," Mayor Jim Hovland says. Imagine "a community where businesses and workers prospered and there are no invented barriers to success. We want Edina to be that community," Chamber of Commerce President Lori Syverson says. The "One Town, One Family" conversation "will explore current realities and gain a deeper understanding about issues and challenges related to inclusion in our community," according to Stanley. Participants will work together to create a "vision and action plan that will help lead change in the Edina community," she said. Edina To Ignore Code Violations To Support 'No Mow May,' Pollinators Everyone in Edina is encouraged to participate in the event Thursday night, Hovland said, telling residents to "bring your family and your friends." "This gathering is for any and all Edina citizens who would like to get together and work together to reimagine, define and create an inclusive Edina community," Hovland said. The "One Town, One Family" community conversation is scheduled to run from 5:30-7:45 p.m. Thursday in the cafeteria at Edina High School. $22M TIF Established To Help Fund Redevelopment Project In Edina The event is being sponsored by the Edina Community Foundation, with staff from the YMCA of the North, UnitedHealth Group and the Equity Innovation Center of excellence to guide the conversation.
