Press release from San Diego County Sheriff's Department: April 10, 2022 Sheriff's deputies initiated a traffic stop of a known stolen vehicle near Murray Ridge Park on Sunday morning, April 10th, at about 8:45 am. The driver, identified as Jamie Bender 12/30/96, failed to stop and a pursuit ensued. Bender drove from the location southbound on the 15 freeway and exited at El Cajon Blvd, San Diego. The pursuit continued onto city streets. The pursuit terminated when Bender collided with a motorist at 35th Street and Orange Avenue. Bender was taken into custody at the scene without further incident. The other involved vehicle's driver was transported to Scripps Mercy Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Two other vehicles sustained minor damage as a result of the collision and there was also damage to a public utilities box. The pursuit covered approximately four miles and lasted just over five minutes. Bender was booked into Las Colinas Detention facility on multiple related felony charges to include vehicle theft.
