UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A woman plowed her car into an outdoor dining shed on the Upper East Side on Tuesday, destroying the structure but injuring no bystanders, according to police.
Just after 6 p.m. Monday, a 44-year-old woman was driving a white BMW SUV north along First Avenue when she hit a parked Honda SUV, causing her car to veer into the dining shed outside The Sefton bar near East 74th Street.
Photos from the scene show the BMW fully inside the wooden shed, which collapsed on top of the car and splintered into pieces along the pavement.
The driver and a 29-year-old man who was in the car both suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene, police said.
Police issued the driver a summons for unlicensed motor vehicle operation, according to an NYPD spokesperson. An investigation is ongoing.
