DEARBORN — U.S. Representative Rashida Tlaib from Detroit said Monday she tested positive for COVID-19. Her positive test comes amid a surge of infections of lawmakers on Capitol Hill last week.
Tlaib tweeted she wasn't feeling well over the weekend and found out that she tested positive for COVID-19 after taking an at-home PCR test. She also said she's isolating and following CDC guidelines. "Please stay safe, everyone," she added.
"This is a reminder that we are not out of this pandemic," Tlaib tweeted. "Thankfully, I am vaccinated & boosted."
Tlaib did n0t participate in Saturday's Michigan Democratic Party convention in Detroit, while she was waiting for test results, she said in a video at the convention.
Tlaib became the third Michigan lawmaker to test positive for COVID-19 in recent months, after U.S. Representatives Fred Upton, R-St. Joseph in March and Dan Kildee, D-Flint Township in January.
