Valley Block & Concrete, is looking for a seasonal laborer to assist in our yard during the busy construction season. Our yard laborers are responsible for providing courteous, professional service to all Customers in an efficient manner. They are also responsible for carefully handling all products to minimize damage and help maintain a neat and organized appearance at Valley Block & Concrete. Additional responsibilities would include but not be limited to: Work in a safety conscious manner at all times. Courteously and professionally interact with our Customers. Ability to encourage and build mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members. Be knowledgeable of all materials in the yard, including their location and grades, and proper handling techniques. Load our customers promptly and ensure that the correct products are loaded. Ability to work outside for extended periods of time. Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs and torso such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling materials. Carry and maneuver goods that may weigh 100 pounds, utilizing additional personnel and mechanical assistance as required. Safely use all equipment in the yard. Safely use forklifts, and meet eligibility for forklift certification. Be watchful for housekeeping needs in the yard and take initiative to clean up and pick up trash. Work assigned shifts/hours and extra shifts/hours as needed or directed by management. May include evenings and weekends. Required education, training and experience High School Diploma, GED Equivalent or passing grade on written reading, writing and math skills test. Employment will be contingent upon submission to and successful completion of a pre-placement drug test as well as pre-placement verification of the information and qualifications provided during the selection process.
