Press release from Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad: The Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad recently received a $20,000 grant from The Summit Foundation to help fund the purchase of new computers that will be used to complete electronic call reports and other required documentation after Squad members respond to 911 calls. The new computers replace outdated equipment and will enable crews to more efficiently write the comprehensive reports required by each call. In addition, The Summit Foundation helped the Squad to defray significant COVID-19 expenses with a special grant of $3,900 for the purchase of a U/V light to decontaminate ambulances and equipment after crews return from calls. "We sincerely appreciate The Summit Foundation and its continuing support of the Squad, particularly with essential help during the pandemic," explains Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad President Robert Flanagan. "By generously funding the purchase of the U/V light and new computers, The Summit Foundation helped to keep our members safe, while enabling them to be more productive as well. They are a true community partner and we are very fortunate to have their significant support." The Summit Foundation fosters philanthropy by identifying local needs and offering donors flexible ways to make a difference in the lives of its neighbors. In the past 10 years, it has awarded nearly $5.7 million through more than 400 competitive grants to nonprofit organizations in New Jersey. The Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization providing pre-hospital emergency medical care and transportation.
