SUMMIT, NJ — Police reports were released by Summit police this month:
A saxophone
Police said that a musical instrument was stolen from a rental vehicle in Summit in spring, but was only reported last month.
Police said that the renter told them on Nov. 18 that someone had stolen his saxophone on March 13. Since that time, "The victim attempted numerous times to locate the saxophone with the rental vehicle company unsuccessfully," police said.
The saxophone was described as a brassy gold color and had been kept in a large black case. The items were valued at approximately $2,400, police said.
Rental vehicle missing
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, another person became a victim of a theft involving a rental vehicle last month — this time, a theft of the vehicle itself.
On Nov. 30 at 2:42 p.m., police took a report for a theft of a vehicle by unlawful means from a business on Springfield Avenue. The business reported the incident occurred on Nov. 22 when the vehicle was not returned to the business.
The vehicle, described as a silver 2019 Toyota Camry, carried an outstanding balance of about $2,000, police said, and was supposed to be returned to the agency.
