We have a roughly 8 year old amazon green parrot named Rocco. we took him in about 2.5 years ago now. he loves to sing and dance. very talkative. easily picks up on the emotions in the room. good and bad. and responds accordingly. his previous owner got him as a gift for his kids. sadly he wasnt handled at all. the father would hit the cage when ever he wouldnt be quiet. which has made him scared of men. women he is ok with. doesnt like being touched. but with some coaxing and patience. he will sit on an arm or shoulder. we have been working on getting his nails and beak trimmed back as they were severely overgrown. he had also picked up some choice words that he will use if someone in the house is being mad, upset, angry, raised voice in a stern way. we are looking for a new home as our daughter is autistic. and he has since found her breakdowns to be comical. and starts laughing at her now. which does not help the situation at all. he is a funny bird. and a great bird. he has come a very long way in 2.5 years. and I'm confident with continuing efforts. he will make a great parrot. he is not clipped. never has been. however he spent the first 5 years in a cage. so he never learned or knew he could fly. we let him out and he will climb all over his cage. but wont leave it. if he is spooked he flutters to the ground. doesnt even try to fly. he will come with his cage, all his toys and whatever food we have left when he finds a new home. asking $150 rehoming. mainly to cover the cost of his cage and toys.
