I need a certified mechanic to look over the front end work that was done on our 2001 Escape. The new clutch and rebuilt transmission seem to be fine and shifting smoothly…after the previous mechanic tried bleeding the clutch for hours a day for 5 days before finally pulling the transmission back out and finding a clutch spring was the problem. He was using the speed sensor hole as a filling port for the fluid, but never came back to put the sensor back. The connector is also missing; not sure why he would’ve clipped that wire, but it’s just hanging there.
The cv axle boots aren’t clamped, he didn’t put the splash guards back on…which the cv axles go through because he said they weren’t on there when he took it apart…but they’re in the back seat of the car and we certainly didn’t pull them off. I need the front end work checked, documented as to whether the obviously new parts were installed correctly and redone if needed. After waiting 4 months for all this work to be completed, I do plan to take them to small claims with the documented proof. I need to recoup at least what it costs me to hire someone else to complete the job. I’ve reached out to the owner, who is listed as a master mechanic, and he guaranteed it would be done by 4/1. When it wasn’t, I asked for him to come and take a look and could tell by how he responded, that the mechanic doing the work hadn’t been honest with him about what was really going on. He didn’t seem overly concerned or interested in taking the time to come out. I’ve tried to reach him since, but his emails are being checked by others and I was told a week ago that they ordered the speed sensor…still no acknowledgement of the other issues.
Please reply with your contact info and certification. I’ll get back with you very quickly. I am desperate to get this vehicle finished.
Thank you
