Description

You know the song "Brickhouse"? Little known fact but that was actually written about our boy Warehouse Rudy! But that tough streetwise layer is just a cheap coat of paint covering for his more mushy nature underneath. This guy just loves attention and isn't afraid to ask for it, but he has a low ceiling for any fancy petting shenanigans (so no chest and belly rubs) and can get worked up during play and petting sessions, meaning he'll need an experienced owner comfortable working on and reading his habits, and with plenty of space for Rudy to run around. When he gets the things he needs, mainly treats and more daily enrichment than your average cat, you'll get to see his more affectionate side come out as he follows around by your side and tries his best to jump into your lap or ask to be held (user warning; lap and cuddle time is not for the novice at heart). Rudy likely spent some extra time out on the streets before getting scooped up by his caretaker, so we aren't sure when or how long ago he was possibly in a home before that, but he is social enough with humans that it was at least for part of his life. Rudy could potentially live with other well socialized cats as well (his finder reported that he doesn't like other cats, but he also had a kitty best friend who passed away from injuries while they were still outdoors so the jury is out), but needs to be in an adult-only home because of his behavior quirks. He would make an excellent working cat in a shop or warehouse setting! Rudy tested positive for FIV but can safely live with negative cats. Casual, non-aggressive contact, such as sharing water bowls or mutual grooming, is not an efficient route of spreading FIV. As a result, cats in households with stable social structures where housemates do not fight are at little risk of acquiring FIV infections. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots. PAWS will provide info on acclimating him to his new home and how to keep barn cats safe. PAWS can also deliver him to you! If you’re interested in adopting Rudy as your working cat buddy, please email alley @ phillypaws.org (remove spaces)!
