TAF, a manufacturing & engineering firm in Richmond, Virginia, is seeking a full-time Electrical and Soldering Technician to work on electrical assembly and manufacturing. This role will support R&D efforts and low-volume specialized items. This position will include responsibility for developing new assembly processes and documentation, facility maintenance, and electrical assembly work. You will work closely with engineers and technicians to support R&D and engineering efforts in battery development, deployable facilities for the military, and reverse engineering. You will work on 3-4 new projects every year and have the opportunity to continuously learn new skills and techniques. Tasks will include: Soldering: Through Hole and Surface Mount (SMT) Rework Crimping and cable termination via approved methods Building wire harnesses Potting cables / using molds Organizing / maintenance of inventory Q/A procedures & documenting work performed Implementing and following test plans Facility maintenance and supervising vendors This position is located 10 minutes north of Richmond just south of Ashland, VA and offers flexible hours with our facility open between 6am and 9pm. You will be able to set your own schedule within the times the facility is open and will generally have a 1-week time to schedule and complete each assigned task at your convenience. This position is expected to require 40 hours per week. Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications, $21.42+/hour plus overtime. 4% 401(k) match available to all employees. Experience Requirements Prior experience with through-hole soldering Prior experience with wiring assemblies (crimping, installing connectors, etc) Ideal Experience Prior experience organizing and managing inventory in a production environment Prior experience supporting R&D or Engineering Prior experience supporting board testing, bring-up, and troubleshooting Prior experience with surface mount rework (SMT) Trained / Certified to IPC-J-STD-001 or similar Forklift operating experience ITAR Requirements This position will require access to technical data that is export controlled. To conform to U.S. Government technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
