EAST HAVEN, CT — It's not entirely clear why some towns, like East Haven, have COVID-19 case numbers that diverge from the official state Department of Public Health numbers. Both point to database errors and unknown addresses.
And, town's with their own health departments and through other reporting agencies compile their own data.
So as of 5 p.m. Wednesday, East Haven officials said there are 260 confirmed cases and 32 have died. And while many of the cases are in East Haven-based nursing homes, the vast majority are found in private homes.
The state agrees on the number who people who have lost their lives but say the confirmed case number is 295.
