EAST HAVEN, CT — Initially reported as two cases, Mayor Joseph A. Carfora now confirms there are four cases of COVID-19 in East Haven Town Hall. While he said the cases are in people in a non-public area of the building, the building will be closed to the public through Nov. 30. Workers will still be performing essential tasks but services for the public must be done by appointment only. Carfora said that "all contact tracing and proper evaluations have been conducted by the East Shore Health District. Those who require quarantine have been so informed, and are adhering to proper protocols," noting town and health officials are continuing to "monitor and evaluate the situation in our community, and the surrounding area." Carfora said the community can expect an update on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. How Town Hall departments will operate Town Clerk's Office No in person title searches shall be allowed. Searches can be performed using the available on-line platform at www.searchiqs.com. Land record recordings and the filing of death certificates by funeral homes, will be done by appointment only- please contact the Town Clerk's office at (203) 468-3201 Birth certificates, death certificates, marriage licenses (for insurance purposes only) and other copies, please contact the Town Clerk's office at (203) 468-3201 for direction. All other in person services are suspended at this time which includes Notary Public and marriage license applications. Rules regarding the transfer of paperwork for all circumstances and services will be monitored and directed by the Town Clerk, and should be strictly adhered to for everyone's safety.Tax Office No in person tax services will be provided.
