EAST HAVEN, CT — With the letter by now familiar to parents, East Haven Public Schools superintendent Erica Forti said Monday that the district has another four cases of COVID-19. One at East Haven High School, one at Tuttle Elementary School and two at Joseph Melillo Middle School.
The new cases bring the total number of COVID-positive cases to 30, with 146 in quarantine.
Last week, Deer Run Elementary School closed to in-person classes as a result of a staff shortage due to COVID-19 cases and quarantining.
The district now has a COVID-19 tracker on its website that is updated daily and shows the number of students and staff with coronavirus in each school, as well as the number of kids and teachers who have had to quarantine as a result of the cases. People identified as close contacts must remain in quarantine for two weeks. Those who have the disease must isolate at home for 10 days.
Forti has routinely said that the COVID-19 cases in schools are a result of community, not school, transmission.
