Step Up Against Stroke: Stroke Education and Prevention
Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability in the United States. Living a healthy lifestyle and controlling any medical conditions you have can significantly reduce your risk for stroke. This May, in recognition of Stroke Awareness Month, we invite you to Step Up Against Stroke by making a personal commitment to live a healthier life.
Electrophysiologist Dr. Michael Reinig will educate attendees on the relationship between atrial fibrillation (AFib) and increased risk for stroke, and neurologist. Dr. Wayne Gordon will explain common signs, symptoms and treatments for this emergency medical condition.
Guests will be invited to participate in a group exercise class led by wellness instructor Shelley Gavin. These tips to get moving are accessible to individuals of all fitness levels and can protect you from heart disease and stroke. Lancaster resident Terri Garrett will share her story of overcoming a stroke in 2013 and being diagnosed with Afib shortly afterwards. A free health screening and 7-day pass to the Robert K. Fox Family YMCA will be available to all attendees.
In-person attendance is limited, and registration is required by May 15. Medical grade masks are required during the seminar portion of the event.
