SECAUCUS, NJ — The state of New Jersey recently allocated a total of $161 million to more than 500 towns for road repairs and improvements, and Secaucus was on that list. Secaucus will receive $404,976 for the repaving of Front Street. The work will not start until spring or summer 2021, at the very earliest. "It is our hope to pave Front Street for the entire length or as much as we can do with the grant funds," said Secaucus town administrator Gary Jeffas. Since the town just received the grant approval, the project still needs to be designed and approved by the state. The funds were distributed by the state Department of Transportation. You can see all the 2021 road project funding here: https://www.state.nj.us/transp... Under the Municipal Aid grant program, each county is allocated a share of the total funding based on population and the number of local centerline miles, according to the governor's office. Municipalities compete for portions of their county's share.
